Mangadu is a residential suburb in west Chennai, best known for its Kamakshi Amman temple. It lies close to Porur, Kundrathur, Iyyappanthangal and Poonamallee, and has grown steadily as the city spreads westward.

Roads through Kundrathur and Porur connect it to the Chennai Bypass, Mount-Poonamallee Road and the Guindy and Porur job hubs. The upcoming Porur-Poonamallee metro corridor is expected to improve access, and schools and hospitals serve the growing population.

Housing ranges from plotted layouts to large gated apartment townships. Shriram Mangalam, a completed 30-acre development with 936 homes in three towers, is one of the biggest residential addresses in the locality.
