Egmore is a central Chennai district built around Egmore railway station, one of the city's main rail terminals. It adjoins Kilpauk, Chetpet, Nungambakkam and Purasaiwakkam, and holds some of the city's best-known heritage buildings.

The Government Museum, major hospitals and long-standing schools are part of the neighbourhood. Egmore's rail and metro stations, along with Poonamallee High Road, make it one of the best-connected addresses in Chennai.

Land is scarce, so new homes arrive as compact apartment projects on redeveloped sites. RWD Corniche, a completed project of 127 homes across two blocks, is now sold out with the developer.
